No one expects them, but accidents happen. Through no fault of their own, people suffer personal injuries in car accidents, bus accidents, truck accidents, motorcycle accidents, or other motor vehicle accidents. Many people are the victims of accidents involving simple negligence–the inattentive driver, the driver driving too fast–while others become the victims of drunk drivers, drivers on cell phones, drivers texting while driving, and drivers impaired on medication. For some, these collisions could be traumatic and life changing.
Car accidents can cause a variety of injuries – from the minor sprain and strain to the more serious, such as traumatic brain injuries and permanent spine injuries. An injured victim may be entitled to compensation for medical bills, property damage, lost income, and pain and suffering from the party that caused the injuries. If the injuries are permanent, the victim may be entitled to compensation for the reasonable cost of future medical bills, lost future income, future pain and suffering, and lost enjoyment of life. Scarring and other disfigurement caused by an accident are also compensable.
If you have been injured as a result of any type of motor vehicle accident, you should call an attorney as soon as possible regarding your rights to compensation. Peter Mazzeo has over two decades of experience representing people in personal injury cases.
